The NDC laments bitterly about the decision by the Electoral Commission to compile a new Voters’ Register without the benefit of a credible Population and Housing Census.

Mr Edudzi Tamakloe, a Communicator of the NDC speaking on New Day on TV3 directed a thought provoking question at Mrs. Jean Mensa regarding the compilation of the Voters’ Register.
According to him, in the absence of a credible Population and Housing Census, what numbers informed the Electoral Commission in the Printing of the Registration materials?.

He argued that, it is the Population Census that will provide an indication of the registrant population.
The distribution of the registration materials are also informed by the Population Census.
It is therefore unprecedented to compile a Voters Register without a credible population Census he said.

The Lawyer alleged that, the government has done everything to frustrate the Ghana Statistical Service from conducting the 2020 Population and Housing Census.
Nevertheless, the government has resourced NIA to register Ghanaian for Ghana Card but cannot do same for the Population Census to be conducted.

He concluded that “ When you put all these together, there’s only one irresistible conclusion that there is a grand scheme by Mr Akuffo Addo, Jean Mensa an the Others to hijack the sovereignty of Ghana”.

The Ghana Statistical Service is yet to conduct the Population and Housing Census due to the Corona Virus Pandemic.
