A Black Stars Team Mate Called Me A Monkey- John Paintsil Painfully Recounts

John Paintful has shockingly revealed some hard times for him in the Camp of the Black Stars during the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Ghana International player recounted how he had to deal with this particular team mate who who was so hostile and treated him unworthy of respect.

Paintsil reminisced those painful moments when he was just new in the camp of the Black Stars

“I experienced segregation even at the Black Stars camp. Some of my teammates had issues with certain players from certain parts of the country.”

“The most painful and hurtful part of segregation I have endured was here in Ghana when a teammate called me a monkey from Berekum,” he shockingly revealed.

The player said, he could not endure it so ended up with a physical brawl with the supposed senior team member.

“When I joined the Black Stars at one point I had to fight a teammate who looked down on me just because of where I come from,” John said.

John Paintsil was part of the 2006  and 2010 team squad to have played for Ghana in the world cup at Germany and South Africa respectively.
