Okyeman Was Already Big Before Akufo-Addo Became President – Okyehene Rubbishes Fake ‘Agyapadie’ Book In Circulation

Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has publicly denounced a circulating document, featuring his image and titled “Agyapadie,” as a complete fabrication. He claims the document is a product of a longstanding smear campaign against the Ofori Panin household and Okyeman.

The controversial book, which outlines a supposed strategy to elevate Akyem people to dominant positions within Ghana’s economy, has resurfaced, attracting significant attention in both traditional and social media.

During a recent Akyem Abuakwa State Council meeting, Okyenhene urged his community and the broader Ghanaian public to dismiss the book’s content as baseless. He questioned the logic of anyone devising such a plan and then publicly associating it with their image.

He drew parallels to a similar document, the “Akyem Project,” which appeared before the 2016 election with the intent to create discord between Okyeman and Asanteman and to undermine Nana Akufo-Addo’s electoral prospects. He noted that the “Agyemadie” document resurfaced in 2019 and was repurposed in 2020 when the Agyapa business deal became politically contentious.

Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin highlighted that the prominence of the Ofori Panin Fie predates President Akufo-Addo’s tenure, with no extraordinary actions in the past 25 years to justify accusations of self-aggrandizement. He pointed out that the Eastern Region had greater representation in President John Agyekum Kufuor’s cabinet compared to Akufo-Addo’s administration, suggesting that the current narrative is a deliberate attempt to foster animosity towards the Akyem people.

He also dismissed claims about being the richest chief in Ghana with a touch of humor, emphasizing that these stories are part of a broader strategy to incite hatred against the Akyem people.

Osagyefuo stressed that Okyeman’s historical greatness will endure, underlining that despite prominent Akyem individuals serving in Ghana’s public sector, their contributions to Okyeman’s development have been minimal. He called on his kinsmen to defend Okyeman’s reputation against malicious attacks and misinformation.

He concluded by urging those spreading falsehoods to consider the harm they cause, questioning how they would feel if similar lies were directed at them and their families.
