The Bono East regional Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Boakye, has shamed Mr. John Mahama for not having the courtesy to honor former President John Agyekum Kufuor with the ex-gratia due him when he retired and handover power to the National Democratic Congress.

David Boakye, a well-equipped researcher stated on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Wontumionline.com that “former President John Agyekum Kufuor stayed under the entire government of Mahama without being given a single car or house” as part of his retirement package enshrined in Ghana’s constitution.

The NPP regional Secretary disclosed that when the office of former President Kufuor raised the issues about the treatment meted to them, the Mills/Mahama government said emolument due Mr. Kufuor “were too much” and for that reason, established a five member committee to look into the matter.

After Parliament testified that Kufuor deserved everything he had demanded for, the Mills/Mahama government according to David Boakye, gave him an GHC 97,000 as ex-gratia without even giving him his pension.

“The whole 8 years of Mahama, Kufour was not paid ex-gratia”, David Boakye said.
