Member of Parliament, Hon. Daniel Nii Titus-Glover of the Tema West Constituency who won in the just ended NPP parliamentary primaries says the unseating of the majority of the incumbent MP’s in the just-ended elections would be a heavy blow to parliament and the government as a whole.
Mr Glover explained that parliament needed experienced MPs at this moment to execute effective functionality whilst the government also will need more numbers to help grow and establish its agenda and therefore it was necessary and his prayer is that all new members win in the general national elections in December.
In an interview on Onua Tv’s Maakye on Monday, June 22, Hon. Glover said the outcome of the election was one to affect the work of parliament as the NPP government needed the majority of MP’s to support the work and agenda of the president and government.
Some of the incumbent MP’S who lost in the primaries include; Frederick Opare Ansah, the Chairman of the Communications Committee Dr Mark Asibey Yeboah, Chairman of the Finance Committee William Quaittoo Agyapong, the Chairman of the Education Committee, Ben Banda Abdallah, the Chairman of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee , Collins Owusu Amankwaah, the Chairman of the Government Assurances Committee, and Alex Agyekum, the Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee.
But Hon. Glover was also quick to add when he was asked whether unopposed MP’s would have won should they have stood for the elections like the regular, “some would have won their seats. Some people like Kyei Mensah, Joe Wise, Dr Okoe Boye and the rest would have won”.
