According to Ghana Police Service personnel in the region, four (4) people in police custody in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region for defilement and other related charges have escaped.

According to a police situational report, Sergeant Lariba Abilba, Constable Kichekpa Ju Napoleon Banu, and Constable Ntiamoah Elizabeth heard cell inmates Fawas Musah, a juvenile remand prisoner, Francis Dabang, a suspect in a defilement case, and Kwojo Dinaya, another suspect in a stealing case singing praises and worship while on duty at the charge office.

When one of the officers returned to the cell after a while, she was disappointed to find that the convicts had removed a block from the cell wall in the lavatory.

It was discovered that inmates had escaped from legal custody.

Soldiers have been dispatched to assist in the search for the fugitives, while an armed guard who fell after the incident is being treated at the Tongo District hospital.
