Host of Good Evening Ghana (GEG) on Metro TV, Paul Adom-Otchere has backed former President John Dramani Mahama’s description of Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu as ‘coward’.
This comes after Amidu in his Agyapa corruption risk assessment report named Mahama as the Government Official 1 in the Airbus Scandal. He further added that he is unable to interrogate Mahama because of his position as flagbearer ahead of the 2020 polls.
Speaking to this on his show, Adom Otchere noted that Mahama was right to call Amidu a coward because he is mandated to prosecute and therefore it’s not understandable if he says because Mahama is a leader of a political party ahead of a major election so he can’t interrogate him.
Adom-Otchere explained, “…if you have found something, you have to prosecute. What is Martin Amidu talking about…He doesn’t have the mandate of his own……How then does he say that I have conducted an investigation, I have found that President Mahama is Government Official One, but because he is a leader of a political party, I’ll not prosecute him. Martin Amidu should not be able to say that. In fact, in saying so, he is risking the continuation of his own office.”
