Your Refunded Allowances Alone Can Buy Desks For Over 20,000 Kids Who Learn On The Ground – MFWA To 1st, 2nd Ladies

Emoluments refunded by the first and second ladies, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia respectively, can buy desks for over 20,000 children who sit or sleep on the ground to study, Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) boss, Sulemana Braimah has said.

He was reacting to the first lady’s decision to give allowances given her since 2017.

“The money, almost GHC900,000, is enough to buy desks that will seat about 14,000 kids across the country..,” Mr Braimah said.

Second lady, Samira Bawumia has also given up on her allowances since 2017.

A statement from her office on Tuesday July 13 said “Mrs Bawumia continues to be committed to the service of the nation.”

It added that she stays committed “to deliver humanitarian interventions and initiatives in the areas of health, education and economic development”.
