The National Chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has revealed that the president of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo might not be on top of issues in Ghana.
According to him, the economic crises and suffering are real and the citizenry need authorities to empathize with them.
However, “if the president fails to do that then it means he (the president, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo) does not know what is happening in the country”.
Speaking on Mpu me Mpu on Accra based United Television, Chairman Ofosu Ampofo said he expects the minister for monitoring and evaluation to consistently brief the president on what Ghanaians are passing through but it seems the minister is not doing that.
Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo gave this response when asked to comment on the president’s decision not to reshuffle his ministers and what he feels about his response.
“Current reports show that about 87% of Ghanaians believe the nation is moving in the wrong direction. If you’re leading a nation and your people are saying the nation is moving in the wrong direction so change your ministers but you respond to them that they are saying so because they are hungry. Yes, they are hungry. Ghanaians are hungry, there is no job. Your policies are making us hungry. Nana Addo does not know what is going on the country. If he knows, he wouldn’t respond the way he did” – Chairman Ofosu Ampofo
Portraying his disappointment in the Akufo-Addo led NPP administration, Chairman Ofosu Ampofo likened the current state of economic governance to that which occured in 1983.
He could not fathom why inflation should exceed 31%. Chairman lamented on the high cost of living in the country even though the president pretends not to be aware.
Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo seeks to be retained in their upcoming internal election as the NDC National Chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC.
