Your Dirty Hands Will Soil Our Constitution- Chairman Wontumi Strikes Out Plan By Mahama

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has warned Mr. John Mahama  to stay off the 1992 constitution of Ghana.

He specifically warned the former President not to lay his “unholy” hands on the 1992 constitution or come up suggestions about tweaking the 4 year tenure enshrined in it for an elected President.

“You are a dirty man and there are several crimes you have committed that should make you stay in prison. You are just lucky the indemnity clause protects you and you have the gut to talk about amending the constitution?” Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi wondered.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has shockingly confirmed suspicions that he would amend Ghana’s constitution to enable him seek to rule for more than 8 years should he unlikely win the 2024 elections.

In response to a question during his recent media engagement in the United Kingdom on Voice Of Afirica (VOA) John Mahama stated among others that he would ‘most importantly the NDC would look at the Constitution again, we have been operating this constitution for more than 26 years and I think that the time has come for us to look at it again and do some tweaking in order that we can have a proper constitutional environment in which we can grow the Economy’ Mahama told the host.
He went on to say that ‘We have a four year term like they have in America, not like other countries where they have a 5 year term and there is very little you can do in four years’.

But Chairman Wontumi responded that such comments by Mr. Mahama triggers anger due to how bad he ruled Ghana in the past.

He maintained that the NPP would not hand over an economy which is bouncing back to live to Mr. Mahama and the NDC to destroy it.

“This government is working around to get the economy look better again so we are not going to give any incompetent person or party the chance to sneak in and destroy it. We are not going to allow dirty men with dirty hands soil our constitution”, Chairman Wontumi said.
