You Will Lose Akwatia Seat If You Don’t Beg Ama Sey – Kennedy Agyapong Tells NPP

Maverick lawmaker for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has bluntly told the New Patriotic Party branch in Akwatia to set aside their pride and apologize to the incumbent MP for the Area, Ama Sey if they are serious about retaining that seat.

Mercy Ama Adu Gyamfi, popularly known as Ama Sey, the incumbent MP for Akwatia lost the party’s parliamentary primaries earlier in the year by a meagre 4 votes.

The MP was gearing up to run independent after she claimed to have been treated unfairly by the party in the wake of her defeat in the primaries. According to Ama Sey, her request for a recount was denied even though some candidates in other Areas were granted that priviledge.

However, speaking at the constituency’s Health Walk on Sunday, October 18, MP for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong advised the elected parliamentary candidate and the constituency executives to go to the incumbent MP’s house and beg her.

According to Mr. Agyapong, the incumbent MP was treated unfairly and even though dignitaries at the National level have apologized to her, it will be in the Party’s interest to further apologize to her. This, the lawmaker explained is the only way for the party to achieve a resounding victory in the 2020 polls.
