Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, in the Central Region, Ekow Quansah Hayford was killed this dawn by unknown assailants.
Reports indicated that he was returning from a campaign trail when the gun men attacked his vehicle on the Abeadze Dominase–Abeadze Duadzi–Mankessim Road.
An eyewitness who was supposedly part of the four persons seated in the MP’s car told Adom News that the gunmen shot their car tyre which made them catch up with them.
He added that they were ordered out of the car and made to lie on the bare floor while they interrogated them. They asked who amongst them was Ekow Quansah. Initially they were reluctant to reveal which of them was Ekow, however, sensing that the gunmen were serious, Ekow Quansah gave up himself and told the men he was the one.
They then started telling him how things have become tough in the country. They said, “you politicians have made things hard for us in the country,” after which they shot him dead.
Apart from the driver who sustained injuries, the others were spared unhurt. However, reports reveal that the driver has eventually given the ghost this morning.
The body of Ekow Quansah has since been deposited at the Saltpond Mortuary.
