You Can’t Run Away From The Misapplication Of GH¢2.4 Billion Covid-19 Fund Apaak To Akufo-Addo

Dr. Clement Apaak, a Deputy Ranking Member of Parliament’s Education Committee, maintains that the government has no rationale for spending 2.4 billion on Covid-19-related expenditures for solely Senior High Schools.

When he (Dr. Apaak) inquired about the spending, the Finance Minister struggled to explain how the money was used.

The MP for the Builsa South constituency is perplexed as to why it should cost the country 1.9 billion for our children and teachers to return to school and remain safe during the peak of the epidemic.

The government has refused to account for this expenditure, according to the MP, and the Minority will continue to expose them.

According to the congressman, the government misappropriated the funds and is attempting to mislead the public by claiming it was spent on Covid-19 in our secondary schools.

“Folks, no amount in excess of 2 billion (2.3 billion Bawumia/2.4 billion Apaak) could have been used for Covid-19 related expenses for ONLY SHS, as Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta struggled to explain when I asked for an explanation for the additional expenditure on fSHS on the floor of Parliament on July 21st, 2021.

How could it cost 1.9 billion dollars to assure that ALL of our students and teachers returned to school and stayed safe, as we now know? ( NADAA SoNa 2022). Yet, a year earlier (2021), Ken Ofori-Atta estimated that funding Covid-19 expenditures for ONLY SHS would cost over 2 billion dollars.
