Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa Sulemana Jakpa I has commended the Inspector General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh for the swift arrest of suspected persons involved in the lynching to death of 90-year old Akua Denteh.
A statement from the Overlord read, “the Gonja Traditional Kingdom wholeheartedly welcome the arrest of the Kafaba killing and wish to further express our satisfaction with the arrest of about seven persons believed to have taken part in the lynching of Akua Denteh, the 90-year-old woman who was accused of witchcraft in Kafaba of the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.”
Madam Akua Denteh was on July 23, lynched to death after being accused of witchcraft by some persons in Kafaba.
Police, since the viral video of the incident popped up, have acted swiftly to arrest about seven persons behind it including the sorcerer who professed her a witch.
