Latest information from the World Bank sees Ghana ranked as one of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) globally.
By this, Ghana joins a group of other developing countries with high levels of poverty and debt overhang which are eligible for special assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
A total of 39 countries which heavily features African nations make up the list of HIPC.
Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Haiti and Sierra Leone are some of the countries on the list.
