Women and children in Ghana have been advised to engage the police in matters relating to domestic violence without fear.
In an interview with Peace News, Executive Member for Ghana Police Ladies Association, Chief Superintendent Rev Faustina Asare bemoaned the increasing incidence of domestic violence particularly against women and children coupled with low reports to the Police.
She stated that recently, there have been efforts by the police to increase its visibility to make it easier to report cases of domestic violence to police personnel at anytime.
She added that cases of domestic violences can be reported at the nearest police stations or to any police officer found within a community and it’ll be treated with the highest form of anonymity and professionalism.
She made this statement during a float to sensitize the public on Domestic Violence by the Police Ladies Association as part of their 60th Anniversary celebrations.
