A seeming pressure is being mounted on the head of the NDC flagbearer for the 2020 elections, John Dramani Mahama to withdraw his petition challenging the declaration of Akufo-Addo as President in the 2020 elections.
This Pressure has intensified after the 9-member panel of the Supreme Court hearing the election petition unanimously dismissed an application for review of an earlier ruling to disallow interrogatories to be served on the 1st respondent.
Following the court’s ruling yesterday, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, a member of the NDC legal team, and a former attorney general expressed shock at the court’s decision, insisting that the court is not being fair to the petitioner.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Otec FM after the ruling, Suleman Abdulai, a communications team member of the NDC advised former President Mahama to withdraw the case since it appears the outcome has already been pre-determined.
“I am not a lawyer but the arbitrary dismissals of our application despite superior arguments are unfair to the petitioner. The ruling of the justices is unfair. What will happen if Mahama decides to withdraw the case? We are ready as NDC foot soldiers to contribute to pay whatever charge the Court may fine you “ He said.
