With or Without A New Voters’ Register, The NDC Shall Win the Elections – Mahama

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has stressed that his party is bound to win this year’s elections with or without a new voters’ register.

Addressing the media at a conference after the Supreme Court ruled that the Electoral Commission can still go ahead with the compilation of the new voters’ register, the former president said the New Patriotic Party will lose the elections with or without a politically engineered electoral roll.

“With or without a new voters’ register, the NDC shall win the elections by the grace of God.”

Mr Mahama claimed that the Akufo-Addo government was manipulating the electoral process to its advantage, however he is optimistic they’ll lose because they’ve failed Ghanaians.

“No politically engineered register can save this failed government from the judgment of the people, from the inevitable defeat that awaits them in the next 165 days,” he reiterated.

Speaking on the Supreme Court’s verdict to allow the EC go ahead with the new voters’ registration without the old voters’ ID or birth certificate, Mr Mahama said the NDC is very disappointed with the court’s decision.

“We are deeply disappointed and strongly disagreed with the courts over this outcome,” Mr Mahama stated, adding it has “indeed thrown the whole country into a state of confusion”.
