Why Can’t You All Be Like Asantehene – Blakk Rasta Slams Dormaahene, Okyehene, Others For Endorsing Politicians

Outspoken reggae musician and broadcaster, Blakk Rasta has slammed the Dormaahene, the Okyehene and other chiefs who have openly endorsed politicians ahead of the 2020 Elections.

Speaking on his show on Zylofon FM, the broadcaster reminded the Chiefs that Ghana’s constitution frowns on chiefs engaging in partisan politics.

Blakk Rasta explained that the constitutional provisions made sense because chiefs have their subjects belonging to different political parties, hence it will be in their own interest to desist from taking a partisan position because their subjects who are of the other divide will look down on them if they do.

The reggae musician particularly chastized the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, and the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin for openly endorsing the NDC and NPP presidential candidates respectively.

He asked the Chiefs to learn from the revered Ashanti ruler, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II who though has received visits from the two main contenders in his Palace, did not openly endorse neither of them.

The Asantehene has been praised by many for managing to keep a very balanced relationship with the leaders of the political parties, such that leaders from the political divide see him as a good friend, yet he has never openly endorsed any politician.

Having worked with five different Presidents since he ascended the throne, the Asantehene at various times has been called upon by all these Presidents whether in power or outside for counsel, however his political affiliation has in no time been predictable due to the manner in which he has conducted himself.
