Where Is Bawumia’s Solid Economic Management Team When We Need Them – Okudzeto Asks

As the country faces economic issues, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has accused Ghana’s Economic Management Team of failing to do their job.

After bragging that it could resuscitate Ghana’s economy from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team lead by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is now nowhere to be found, according to the MP.

“They (Economic Management Team) have now transmogrified into a Digitalization Management Team,” Ablakwa claimed in a statement uploaded on his social media accounts on March 13, 2022.

“Ghana’s economy is in such bad shape, and overall living circumstances are rapidly deteriorating, you have to ask if Ghana is also subject to economic sanctions like Russia.”

“Strangely, just when we need the “SOLID” Economic Management Team the most, and after making international headlines during the peak of the corona pandemic for claiming to have unrivaled expertise in reviving the economy,” the post continued, “they have now transmogrified into a Digitalization Management Team.”

Prices of goods and services are currently rising, with inflation hovering around 15%. Fuel prices, in particular, have become a major source of concern, with diesel and petrol currently selling for GH84.9 per liter.

Starting on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers of Ghana (COPEC) and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) estimate fuel and petrol to sell for more than GH9 per liter.

The Ghana Cedi has also devalued significantly in recent months. The cedi devalued by nearly 14 percent between January and March 2022, with a dollar costing more than GH 7.
