Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu has insisted that there is no big deal with President Akufo-Addo using close associates to run his government and deals like Agyapa.
He was reacting to concerns that the Agyapa Mineral Royalty deal was clouded with family and friends of the President and therefore requires review.
Some of the persons cited included the President’s cousin, Gaby Otchere-Darko and Senior Minister Osafo Marfo’s son.
To him, once they’re qualified to do the job it doesn’t matter whether they are family and friends of the President.
He stated, “what is wrong if these persons are part of the deal? Gabby is a Ghanaian, Osafo Marfo is a Ghanaian and so if his son is part of the deal, what is wrong with that?”
He noted that if other persons who were more qualified were they but the job was still given to them, then it calls for questioning. Other than that, there’s no basis to dispute their involvement in the deal.
