What Is Good For The Goose Is Also Good For The Gander – Bagbin Says As He Ignores Concerns Of Committee To Appoint Asiedu Nketia

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has stood his ground against contrary advice by the Advisory Committee of Parliament to appoint the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah as a member of the Parliamentary Service Board.

Those who were opposed to the appointment of Mr Asiedu Nketiah opposed on the grounds that his appointment will be an “undesired intrusion by political parties into the governance of parliament”.

However, Mr Bagbin stood his ground and appointed the General Secretary of the NDC.

The Speaker noted that the former Parliamentary Service Board had Mr Hackman Owusu Agyemang as member, who later became the Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders.

Mr Bagbin noted that if Mr Hackman’s appointment did not amount to an undesired intrusion by political parties into the governance of parliament, then he does not see why Mr Asiedu Nketiah’s appointment would amount to such.

He also added that “what is good for the gander is also good for the goose”.
