The Electoral Commission has expressed its readiness to organize a fresh election in the Assin North Constituency following the annulment of the 2020 Parliamentary results in the area.
The Cape Coast High court presided over by Justice Kwasi Boakye, ordered for fresh elections to be conducted in the Assin North constituency.
Handing his judgement on Wednesday, the judge said the MP, Joe Gyaakye Quayson violated constitutional provisions and other statutory provisions that guide Ghana’s elections.
The Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Dr Serebour Quaicoe says they’re ever ready to go ahead with the court order.
“This issue happened yesterday so we are waiting for the official notification from the court to enable us to put out the timetable, which will include the period of nomination. Our core mandate by law is to organise elections so we are ever ready,” GNA reported.
