Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kwame Bafo, also known as Abronye has noted that former special prosecutor, Martin Amidu’s claims of threats on his life will be followed with police protection whether he likes it or not.
Although Martin Amidu had complained of incessant threats against his life after the Agyapa corruption risk assessment report, he had further refused to allow police protection in his home or escort.
Reacting to this on ‘Nsempa Fie’ television programme on Kumasi based Wontumi television, Abronye noted that Amidu will be offered police protection whether he likes it or not because the law makes provision for such.
“You are telling the whole world that if anything happens to you, the President will be held accountable. It is the duty of the President to ensure every single Ghanaian citizen is protected, according to the laws of Ghana. So, we will ensure that clause of the constitution works,” he was quoted by peacefm online.
He added, “We will ensure the protection comes by force. IGP, please follow the instruction of the President, and give Martin Amidu 24 hours protection. If he likes it or not, the laws of this country will work.
