Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Services, has reiterated the commission’s dedication to ensuring that the upcoming elections are conducted in a free and fair manner. He assured the public that the EC will not tolerate any form of malpractice by its officers.
Addressing a press briefing on September 2, Dr. Asare stated, “The commission would like to assure the public that it will not shield any of its officers, whether permanent or temporary, found complicit in any electoral malpractices. Such individuals will face the full rigor of the law.”
This assurance comes in response to concerns raised by various political parties, notably the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which has expressed skepticism about the EC’s ability to conduct impartial elections.
Despite these concerns, Dr. Asare emphasized that the EC is committed to upholding Ghana’s best interests and would never act in a way that compromises the nation’s peace and stability.
