Former president John Dramani Mahama has promised to supply motorbikes to Okada operators on hire purchase terms if he wins power again on December 7, 2020.
Speaking at a mini-durbar of chiefs and people of Kajeji in the Sene East Constituency of the Bono East Region, Mahama noted that the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration will amend the law to legalise the use of motorbikes for commercial passenger services.
“We’ll bring in motorbikes and give them out to you on hire purchase terms,” the NDC flagbearer said.
Meanwhile Vice president Mahamudu Bawumia has noted that okada business is a high risk venture therefore the Akufo-Addo led government will provide a better alternative by introducing a leasing scheme where riders can swap their bikes for cars.
