We Will Review Your Petition – EC Assures NDC After “Enough Is Enough” Demo
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has confirmed it will review the petition submitted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after their nationwide demonstration on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
In a statement, the Commission assured the public that while the process of finalizing the voters register is still in its early stages, it remains committed to producing a credible and robust register for the upcoming December elections.
The EC also reiterated that it remains open to further discussions with the NDC to address any concerns regarding the register. This follows the NDC’s nationwide protest demanding a forensic audit of the voters register, citing discrepancies they believe could affect the credibility of the 2024 general elections.
As part of their efforts to resolve the issue, the NDC has reached out to international bodies, ambassadors, and other stakeholders to raise awareness about their concerns with the current state of the voters register. The party insists that these discrepancies must be addressed to ensure a fair electoral process.
