Lead Counsel for the Petitioner in the 2020 election Petition currently before the Supreme Court, Tsatsu Tsikata has told the Court presided over by Chief Justice Anin Yeboah that his client is not mandated to present their own collated results because they are not the returning officer.
Mr Tsikata made this remark while arguing to support his application to inspect original documents in possession of the first respondent.
While arguing, Mr Tsikata also said that questions posed by Justice Yaw Appau to the 1st witness of the Petitioner, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah during his cross-examination were completely irrelevant to the petition.
It will be recalled that Justice Yaw Appau had asked Mr Asiedu Nketia to tell the court the votes obtained by the petitioner and the 2nd respondent according their own independently done collation.
Mr Tsikata believes that query by the Judge was completely irrelevant to their case, even though Justice Appau strongly disagreed.
Tsatsu Tsikata forcefully made the point that his client has no obligation to produce his own collated results since he is not constitutionally mandated to do so.
