We Record The Worst Sales From June To July In The History Of Ghana – Coffin Sellers Cries

The peak of the rainy season, which is between June and July, is when coffin dealers say the worst sales are made.

The dealers in Kumasi said that because there is little demand for coffins during the rainy season, it has become a challenging time for them. They say that this has always been the case.

In an interview, Asokwa Yaw, a leader of the coffin sellers in Kumasi, stressed that “People do not buy coffins in June and July because of the rains and it impacts our daily sales.”

As he continued, “I must also disclose that our income is derived from the number of coffins we sell in a year, much as we are not praying for people to die.

Although it is not true that people do not pass away during the rainy season, family members often postpone funerals due of the weather, making it challenging to generate strong sales during this time.

“Occasionally, we visit and leave without making any purchases in June or July, but business picks up from August through December because funerals begin in August.”

“From January through May of this year 2022, I was able to sell 20 coffins. However, because to the weather, I was unable to sell even one coffin in June. However, I am optimistic that things will improve from August through December.”
