Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to vote for a candidate who can guarantee the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections. He emphasized that this should be the delegates’ topmost priority.
Dr. Bawumia stated that in order for the party to secure a third consecutive term in government (“break the 8”), it requires a candidate with a proven track record in governance and experience, rather than solely considering wealth.
The Vice President also emphasized the importance of selecting a candidate who brings innovative ideas to foster the country’s growth.
“As we approach the presidential primaries, we require a leader who can help us secure victory and retain power. The priority should be a selfless leader, not merely someone wealthy. We need an individual with humility, a proven track record, the right temperament, and innovative ideas, as well as the ability to be tolerant of everyone.”
Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia highlighted his experience in successfully defeating the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in a previous electoral contest.
Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence in his ability to defeat the former President, John Mahama, once more in the 2024 elections, claiming that he has already beaten him twice in the past. According to him, among all the ten aspirants, he possesses the political experience in campaigning and winning elections against John Mahama.
Meanwhile, the Vetting Committee for the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Primary has cleared all ten aspirants who are vying to lead the party in the 2024 polls.
