War of Words Between Ghana And Nigeria Is Not The Way To Go – Ablakwa

A Former Deputy Education Minister and a Member on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has urged both Nigerian and Ghana’s government to quit the war of words and solve any issues they have behind closed doors.

This comes after Nigeria in a statement through its information ministry accused Ghana of maltreating its citizens after some shops believed to be owned mainly by Nigerians were locked due to an ongoing trade war.

Ghana in a rebuttal insisted Nigerians are not being maltreated in anyway, insisting Ghana respects its relationship with the Republic of Nigeria and will not harass its citizens.

Reacting to the back and forth, Okudzeto tweeted, “the war of words between Ghanaian and Nigerian top officials is not the way to go. It’s imperative that rapprochement is pursued through quiet behind the scenes diplomatic channels. There’s too much at stake in the long-standing ties between Ghana & Nigeria to risk escalations.”
