Voters Register: Put Out Your Figures And Stop Demanding For Audit – Ephson to NDC

Pollster Ben Ephson has challenged the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to put out its figures concerning the new voters register for comparisons if it has issues with the Electoral Commission (EC) figures.

This comes after the NDC demanded an independent audit of the voters register to ensure its credibility.

Addressing the press, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Director of Elections of the NDC said, “you can recall that when they were doing the pilot exhibition with so-called new system people will go to register and they will say they are already in the system. That is why we are calling for an independent audit of the entire register in relation to multiple registration and details of all those who have engaged in multiple registration including their photographs, ID numbers, and centres should be made available to political parties.”

Describing the demand as ‘strange’, Ben Ephson urged the NDC to share their figures with the public so comparisons can be made with that of the EC.

“Asking for an audit I don’t get it if you say you have numbers that would show the figure by the EC is wrong, put your figure out and let’s compare with the EC,” Mr Epshon told Starr FM.

He added, “if you are going to ask an external auditor to audit, they should have a benchmark to compare with EC’s figures so they [NDC] should put their figures out.”
