The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II has issued a stern warning to Chiefs in Nkoransa in the Bono East Region to stop defying his orders.
The Overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom issued this warning when some chiefs of Nkoransa went to Manhyia Palace to plead for forgiveness through the Juabenhene, Nana Otuo Serebuor.
Nkoransa, though now in the Bono East Region, is traditionally under the jurisdiction of the Asantehene.
The Asantehene was fuming with rage because the Chiefs of Nkoransa had defied his authority in the matter of a chieftaincy dispute, and had passed behind the Overlord to secure a gazette for a Chief they had enstooled without recourse to Otumfuor.
The Asantehene reminded the Chiefs that a gazette is not enough to declare one as a Chief in Nkoransa, unless that Chief comes to Manhyia to swear the great of allegiance to him.
The Chiefs who were not very clear in their apology, pleaded with the King to allow them to go back to the Juabenhene and seek his counsel before appearing in front of the King at another time.
