Two New Suspects Arrested Over Murder Of GPHA Manager, 3 Years After Gruesome Incident

Police have made progress in their investigation into the murder of Josephine Asante Tandoh, a high-ranking employee of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA). They have arrested two individuals who are believed to be connected to the killing. This is the most recent update in the ongoing murder case.

Richard Kwabena Kwakye, also known as Kwabena Boateng, who used to work as a driver for GPHA and is 37 years old, along with Dominic Owusu, a 51-year-old taxi driver, have been arrested as suspects in the murder of Josephine Asante Tandoh. They were caught in Burkina Faso after fleeing Ghana following the incident that occurred on January 13, 2019.

The victim, Josephine Asante Tandoh was at a social gathering hosted by Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority at the senior staff club house in Tema Community Six. Upon leaving the event and returning to her residence, the two suspects allegedly followed her vehicle and entered her apartment complex. It is reported that they proceeded to stab and strangle her to death.

After the murder was reported, investigators were assigned to the case and collected various pieces of evidence from the scene, including semen and fingerprints.

Richard Kwabena Kwakye has reportedly admitted to committing the crime and has named Dominic Owusu as his partner in the act. However, Owusu denies any involvement in the murder.

The investigation is still ongoing in order to determine the motive behind Josephine Asante Tandoh’s murder. The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority is deeply saddened by the loss of their valued Marketing and Public Relations Manager.

This recent development in the case, which has been ongoing for over three years, suggests that there may be a link between the murder and a high-ranking member of the company, as the primary suspect has reportedly made such claims.

When the case was called on Monday, the Prosecution informed the Tema District Court that they were withdrawing the charges leveled against the previous accused persons based on advice from the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

According to prosecution, the Court should therefore, discharge the accused persons, namely Christian Agyei, 22, House boy and Amos Apraku, driver of the deceased who were facing committal proceedings.

While the accused persons were leaving the court room, the Police on the other hand took positions at the court premises and escorted the accused persons into a waiting vehicle to the Police headquarters.
