To Akufo Addo, A Peaceful Electoral Exercise Is When People Are Murdered, Beaten – Asiedu Nketia Slams

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has chastized President Akufo Addo for his refusal to address the brutalities that marred the voters’ registration exercise.

Speaking on Okay FM, Asiedu Nketia wondered why the President of the Republic will describe a violent registration exercise as a peaceful one, especially, when it was widely reported by the media.

According to him, it is worrying when you have a president who proclaims peace when someone is murdered. To him, when a Member of Parliament is brutalized, it is normal in the eyes of Akufo Addo.

Asiedu Nketia had earlier in a press conference on Thursday accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of masterminding the violent attacks that was experienced amid the registration exercise.

He stated, “a further confirmation of this grand agenda is contained in an NPP leaked audio capturing the voice of the Deputy Regional Minister of Bono East region addressing a section of the NPP Invisible and Delta Forces at a meeting held deep in the night at a secret location immediately before their deployment to cause mayhem in most parts of the country during the registration exercise.

“In this leaked audio the Deputy Regional Minister was caught giving explicit instructions to the NPP vigilante to among other things maim and if possible commit murder where necessary. Again on the leaked tape the minister claimed, the media and all state institutions including the Electoral Commission, the Judiciary and security agencies are fully behind the NPP in prosecuting this diabolic agenda.”
