This Is Not What I Was Expecting – Teacher Kwadwo Assesses Akufo-Addo

Teacher Kwadwo, real name Michael Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, an outspoken primary school teacher and activist, has admitted to actively supporting Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s presidential campaign in the run-up to the 2016 elections.

While he claims he has no remorse about what he did because the act has already been completed, he expressed disappointment in the direction the governance has taken.

He bemoaned how he had been abandoned in what he called his unjust dismissal by the Ghana Education Service, GES, in an interview that was aired on Metro TV on Monday, June 27.

When the host of the One On One show, Bridget Otoo asked whether he had any regrets for supporting Akufo-Addo, he responded: “No, no, no. It’s already done so why should I regret it?

“Whether you regret it or not, the decision has been made; now let’s consider the next step. Since this is not what I was anticipating, I am just saddened by how it has developed. Just terribly sad,” he emphasized.

Regarding specific issues in the field of education, he bemoaned how poorly the Free Senior High School Policy had been implemented, criticizing the administration for the dearth of textbooks and the subpar infrastructure in some regions of the nation.

He underlined that he had backed the New Patriotic Party, or NPP, at the time because of the stated education policy, but he had been let down on a number of fronts.
