The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) have waded into the debate of the potency of Naana Opoku Agyemang as running mate for flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to the National Youth Coordinator for the PPP Divine Nkrumah, there is nothing new John Mahama and Naana Agyemang will be bringing to the table that hasn’t been witnessed before.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio, he urged that Naana Agyemang should be addressed like any other politician and not just because she is a woman. “The PPP will be subjecting her to scrutiny,” he noted.
To him, there have been several women who had had the chance to lead various courses in the country but have failed. He made mention of Betty Mould Iddrisu a former attorney general, Ursula Owusu the current Communications Minister, Dzifa Attivor a former transport minister and Victoria Hammer a former communications minister.
Despite commending the NDC for the appointment of Naana Opoku Agyemang, Divine Nkrumah insisted there is nothing new she would be coming to do.
“There are women who are mafia’s than men and so we should not reduce the debate to her being a woman. We have to test her just like any other politician. But I will reiterate that there is nothing extraordinary that she will do when the NDC wins power. We have witnessed the abysmal performance of the NDC before and so there is nothing new they will add when they win,” he stressed.
