The Presidency Is A Seat Whose Occupants Know No Peace – Gabby Otchere-Darko
Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has said that no president in Ghana enoys peace of mind.
Reacting to the renovated Asomdwee Park inaugurated by President Akufo-Addo on Sunday, he said it’s a good thing the country has a place where late presidents can find peace after their death.
“10yrs ago, Ghana for the 1st time lost its sitting president, John Evans Atta-Mills. May he continue to rest in asomdwe (peace). The presidency is a seat whose occupants know no peace. Asomdwehene was Mills’ nickname. Very proper to have a presidential cemetary named Asomdwe Park”, he was reported by PakMediaGh
The inauguration of the late president John Atta Mills’ statue at the park sparked concerns.
The monument was outdoored during the 10th memorial service of the late John Evans Atta Mills at the Asomdwee Park – where his mortal remains lie.
Interestingly, the late President’s name was nowhere to be found rather, President Akufo-Addo who unveiled it and Koku Anyidoho who assisted him. This has got social media questioning the motive behind the monument.
Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni questioned what tourists would think should they visit the site and find a statue with the name of others embedded on it.
Meanwhile, brother of the former president, Samuel Atta Mills has disclosed that the late President died from a sinus infection.
