Tension In Kumasi As Police And Military Are Deployed To Protect Chief Imam

There was brewing tension in Kumasi Yesterday as a deployment of heavily armed military and police personnel stormed the Kumasi Central Mosque to protect the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Harun.

This was after some aggrieved Muslim Youth had asked the Islamic Cleric to resign over certain pronouncements he made which they deem to be political.

The aggrieved youth have accused the Imam of being bias towards the opposition National Democratic Congress and their flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

The military and police were deployed to maintain law and order after a tip off that the youth were planning mayhem.
