T’di: Fake Pregnant Woman Bought Bought Belly Bump At GHS30 From Market – Prosecutor

The prosecutor handling the case involving Josephine Panin Mensah, the fake pregnant woman in Takoradi has said she bought the belly bump at GHS30 from the Takoradi Market Circle.

Emmanuel Basintale told the Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A on Monday that Josephine Panyin Mensah bought the belly bump to give the impression that she was pregnant.

He emphasised that Josephine was not under any form of duress on Friday, September 24 when she made all the confessions, in the presence of her mother, some medical officers as well as police men.

Meanwhile Josephine pleaded not guilty after being arraigned before a Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A on Monday, September 27.

Her plea comes despite claims by the Police that Ms Mensah had confessed faking her pregnancy and kidnapping to save her marriage.

She is facing two charges of deceiving a public officer and publication of false news with intent to cause fear and panic.

She has however, been granted a GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties.

Josephine was officially arrested on Friday night, September 24, 2021, immediately after the police claimed that she had confessed that her story was a was a hoax.
