Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency, John Abdulai Jinapor has said the current Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Mr Kwame Agyeman-Badu hold his position because of his affiliation with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His comment comes after ECG requested for tariff increase by 148% for 2022 and with 7.6% average adjustments between the periods of 2023 to 2026.
According to him the woes of ECG can akways be blamed on the fact that persons appointed to lead the institution are not appointed based on competence, rather, fathfulness to the ruling party.
“I am surprised that the President decided to appoint this gentleman to head the Electricity Company of Ghana. A company that is worth over 20billion in asset, you need somebody with the competence, somebody with pedigree to manage it”, Mr Jinapor told Joy Prime.
“If you could read his CV, his appointment was based on his political affiliation to the NPP. When you read his CV, it is so appalling,” he said.
