Take Your Politics Away From Rawlings’ Body – Politicians Cautioned

Deceased former president, Jerry John Rawlings is a state asset and must be treated as such, Political Science Lecturer, Dr Amakye Boateng has said.

Speaking to Captain Smart on Angel FM he noted that the brouhaha over who has to bury Rawlings is needless and must no be entertained.

According to him the former president’s funeral must not be politicised in any form; adding that the state has the sole responsibility to intern him.

“It is needless, this is not a partisan issue, although a government is formed after winning a partisan election but the government serve the needs of all not just the people who voted for them…Rawlings’ dead body is now an asset of the state, so political parties should stay off…,” he was quoted by angel online.

He added, “some of the issues emerging after the death of JJ Rawlings are very unnecessary, example being President Akufo-Addo withdrawing his privileges, this amounts to referring to past issues which are of no relevance to current happenings in Ghana now…”
