Taadi: It Wasn’t The Regional Minister’s Job To Break The News Of The Fake Pregnancy – Toobu

A member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Superintendent Rtd. Peter Lanchene Toobu has said the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere-Darko Mensah should have allowed the police to announce the fake pregnancy saga in the region.

According to him although the Minister is the chairman of the Western Regional Security Council (REGSEC) his action caused public mistrust in the police and affects their work.

“When you have a political leader trying to take the credit for the job a state institution has done; it creates a bit of confusion. I personally said, what the Regional Minister said at a point was not necessarily wrong, it could finally be true, but the fact is that he was not the one to speak at that material moment because it began to create that suspicion.” Mr Toobu said on Citi TV.

“Was the police now beginning to work to justify what the Regional Minister said? Or, even if they had a contrary opinion, wouldn’t it have embarrassed the Regional Minister. The Regional Minister as the head of REGSEC puts himself in a very hot seat that made it difficult for people to believe the work of the police,”  he added.
