Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, the Global President of Groupe Nduom, has reported a series of strange occurrences following his recent meeting with former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a Facebook post on Sunday, July 21, 2024, Dr. Nduom hinted at unexplained events that began after he submitted a petition to the former president, seeking the restoration of GN Bank’s operating license. “Since we took our petition to former President & NDC Flagbearer H.E. John Dramani Mahama last Friday, strange things have been happening,” he wrote, without elaborating on the specifics.
The petition, presented during a courtesy call on July 19, 2024, highlighted Dr. Nduom’s astonishment at the Bank of Ghana’s (BoG) decision to revoke GN Bank’s licenses. He recounted his extensive engagements with the central bank’s management and efforts to revitalize the bank, expressing shock over the sudden closure.
Dr. Nduom has consistently argued that GN Bank’s financial troubles were largely due to unpaid government debts to contractors, who in turn owed the bank. He stressed that resolving these debts would alleviate the bank’s financial strain.
In his subsequent post, Dr. Nduom accused communicators from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of using statistics from the BoG to undermine his narrative. “An attempt is being made by some NPP communicators and supporters to use some statistics supplied by the BOG to counter the presentation we are making to the public. We expected it. They should pay contractors so they can pay GN Companies,” he asserted.
