Scrap Grading System In Schools – E-campus Boss to Government

Cecil Senna Nutakor, a leading authority on the use of technology for self-paced education in Ghana, wants the government to scrap grading system for schools.

Nutakor, who is the founder of web and mobile-based online teaching and learning platform e-campus, said the current grading system could erode the confidence and self-esteem of students who do not perform well.

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (7 March), Nutakor said: “I have found that we can automate tests and it will still reinforce learning.”

“It is something that we must consider seriously and structure our educational system,” Nutakor said. “I think that the grading for the schools should be scrapped because I have found that it destroys the self-esteem of young people.”

“Our educational system has trained ‘clerks.’ People who have degrees in engineering but still have the need to call that man by the road side to fix their car when it breaks down,” he added.
