School Feeding Program To Be Extended To Private Schools Starting From 2022 – NPP

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will extend the school feeding programme to all private schools across the country beginning from the 2021/2022 academic year.

The School Feeding Programme is designed to increase enrollment in schools especially in the rural areas.

In times past, there have been calls on government to expand the programme and extend it to private schools, especially schools established in hard to reach areas.

Feeding before school remains a major problem to most parents in the rural areas, and is also a major concern to private schools in the rural areas. Due to this, most parents feel reluctant sending their children to school.

But General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu addressing NPP supporters at the Upper West Regional Annual Delegate Conference revealed that the government has resolved to extend the programme to all private schools across the country.

“The next academic year, we are going to make sure that all private schools in the country enjoy the school feeding programme. This is something that the only New Patriotic Party government can do,” he added.
