Sammy Gyamfi Sues Asaase Radio Over ‘Fake’ Miami Story – Demands GHS 10,000,000 Damages

Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has filed a defamation lawsuit against two media houses and two media personalities. The legal action targets Asaase Radio, www.myabclive.com, Wilberforce Asare of Asaase Radio, and Michael Afriyie of ABC News.

Gyamfi alleges that news story accusing him of misappropriating party funds for a lavish trip to Miami with his spouse has severely damaged his reputation and integrity as a leader. He is seeking GHC 10,000,000 in damages and demands a retraction and an apology on the front pages of the Daily Graphic newspaper for three consecutive days.

In a social media post announcing the suit, Gyamfi stated, “As I indicated earlier today on @adomtv_Gh I have this afternoon filed a defamation suit against Asaase Radio, ABCNEWS, Wilberforce Asare, and one Michael Afriyie over their false publications about my person. Looking forward to the defendants entering appearance upon service, filing their defence, joining issues, and proving their claims in Court.”

Gyamfi has strongly denied the allegations, asserting that the video used as evidence is outdated and was taken from a previous trip to Miami shortly after his marriage. He described the claims as “ridiculous” and “nonsensical,” emphasizing his presence in Ghana during the period in question.
