National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi is reportedly begging the MP for Manhyia South, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo for an out-of-court settlement after the MP filed a 1 million Ghana Cedis defamation suit.
MP for Manhyia South, Matthew Opoku Prempeh has sued Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi for allegedly making defamatory comments that sought to link him to one of the accused persons in the case involving the kidnapping of some Canadian women.
Mr. Gyamfi is said to have stated during a press conference that there was a relationship between Dr. Opoku Prempeh popularly referred to as NAPO (Nana Poku) and Seidu Yakubu, one of the accused kidnappers.
“Seidu’s association with the NPP is more than meets the eye. He is alleged to be the personal bodyguard of the Asokore Mampong MCE, Alhaji Alidu Seidu, and an errand boy for both Manhyia MP, Hon Mathew Opoku Prempeh and Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (aka Wontumi),” Mr. Gyamfi reportedly stated at the press conference.
Mr Opoku Prempeh subsequently filed a defamation suit against the NDC communication chief, demanding 1 million Cedis in damages.
However, this portal has picked up credible reports that the NDC firebrand is in talks with the Manhyia South MP to settle the matter out of court.
According to a source who is close to the Manhyia South MP, the lawmaker is willing to let go of the matter if the NDC communicator apologizes to him.
