Samia Nkrumah Announces Independent Candidacy for Jomoro Constituency

Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and former Member of Parliament for Jomoro, has officially declared her intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.

In her announcement, Samia Nkrumah emphasized that her decision to go independent is driven by a desire to prioritize the interests of Ghana above partisan politics. She believes that the current state of extreme partisanship has not yielded tangible benefits for the Ghanaian people, and she is advocating for a more inclusive and consensus-driven approach to governance.

“I am running as an independent to re-enter Parliament in the Jomoro constituency. Independence means putting Ghana first and fighting extreme partisanship that has not delivered for our people,” Samia Nkrumah stated. She explained that her independent candidacy represents a new approach to politics, one where collaboration and working across party lines are central to achieving positive outcomes for the people.

Samia Nkrumah also expressed her concern about the entrenched partisan divisions that currently characterize Ghanaian politics. “I don’t want us to be partisan; I want us to build consensus. I am looking for a way forward in the future. I don’t think the future lies with being so entrenched in one party or another,” she added.

As an independent candidate, Samia Nkrumah is positioning herself as a unifying figure who can bridge the political divide and work collaboratively with all parties to bring development and progress to the Jomoro constituency and the nation as a whole. Her campaign is expected to focus on promoting national unity, transparency, and accountability in governance.
