Revealed: How Okyehene, Akufo-Addo And Wife, Others Begged Ama Sey Not To Go Independent

It has emerged that it took the pleas of the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, President Akufo-Addo and his wife, and other revered personalities inside and outside the ruling NPP to prevail upon incumbent MP for Akwatia, Ama Sey to rescind her decision to contest as an independent parliamentary candidate.

Ama Sey, whose posters and fliers had been splashed all over the place, failed to file her nomination forms last week as the deadline for filing elapsed, leaving many to wonder what could have prevented her from doing so.

However, in a press conference held at her constituency last friday, the MP explained that she heeded calls from the Okyenhene, President Akufo-Addo and others not to run independent.

She also explained that her initial decision to run independent was premised on the fact that she felt cheated because the party refused her request for a recount after she lost by just 4 votes.

Ama Sey further insisted that even though she has heeded the calls of the notable dignitaries not to contest independent, she is still pained by the fact that her party cheated her.
